Read and Understand: Instead of 'boning up', copying or just glancing at notes and books, read as much as you can. In fact when you read, you understand and thus answering any question in an exam becomes more of a reflex action. Focusing on reading and understanding will make the course work very, very easy. No I am not talking about locking yourself in the dorm room for hours together, but 4 half hour sessions of focused studies for the entire year will prove to be very successful.

Schedule: College is not just about studying your course work, but is more like a preparation for the future, hence make a schedule for the day and try to stick with it. Allocate time for all the things such as sports, friends, music, etc. Basically, start becoming a good person who values time.

Fitness: Put in some good habits into yourself regarding health and fitness right from the first day, small workouts or even playing something such as baseball or football for a short time every day will help you to stay fit. Apart from that a good healthy diet, with a good amount of fruits and vegetables and less alcohol will keep you in good shape.

Know about Professions: You will be of course be thinking about a career in some or the other field. Start reading about famous and successful people from the fields in which you will like to work. Any project changes must be approved by the government. All project phases must be completed on time. And, of course, the project must be completed with demonstrable success.

Failure on the part of the grant recipient to perform under the requirements of the grant can result in penalties ranging from economic sanctions to prison in cases of improper use or theft of public funds.

By far, most government grants are applied for and awarded to other federal agencies, states, cities, colleges and universities, and research organizations. Few individuals have the money or expertise necessary to prepare adequate applications for federal grants. Most active grant-seekers, in fact, employ full time staffs to do nothing but apply for and administer federal grants.

The plain truth is that with federal funding cutbacks and competition for grants becoming more intense, seeking a federal grant always requires a lot of time and potentially a lot of money up front with no guarantee of success.
